Great fun, really knowledgeable instructor.Posted on Google Ian STrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you don’t go, you’ve massively missed out. I wish I’d done this years ago. The leap from consumer simulators on PC or console to what Velocity has delivered is genuinely mind-blowing — your senses are on fire from the moment you start. Yet the detailed pre-flight brief, laced with just the right touches of humour, made the whole experience feel intense yet completely accessible. Duncan led my 2-hour session with absolute brilliance. His backstory to the business was truly heart-warming — he named the plane ‘Spirit of Ruth’ in memory of his late mother. And let me tell you, Ruth had personality. You had to learn respect, and fast. After my first landing, Duncan told me I’d set the bar high and opened up the next set of airports. When he asked where I’d like to go, Innsbruck came straight to mind — I’ve visited many times for skiing and always knew it was one of those technical airports, even if I didn’t fully understand why. That understanding arrived very quickly as Duncan programmed the LOC/DME East Approach — often called simply the “Valley Approach” — into the computer. One moment I was landing at East Midlands; the next I was threading a needle between the Austrian mountains, tracking the Flight Director, hunting for key visual waypoints — the church, the hill — and then… the runway! All while battling buffeting wind and doing everything I could to settle Ruth safely on the ground. The moment I realised I’d actually landed was genuinely monumental. Duncan helped maintain stability, but to walk away with two safe landings felt amazing. “Where are we now?” Duncan asked (as he loaded the next airport) I guessed Japan — it looked Asian. Up loaded Kai Tak, Hong Kong. I had no idea what was coming. As we approached the iconic checkerboard hill, the skies turned pitch black, thunder and lightning crackled, and the wind picked up. “So what happens after we start to bank?” I asked. “You’ll see…” came the reply. Flying impossibly low across rooftops, the runway appeared — seconds away. Big boy pants territory!! I managed to land, but only because of Duncan’s calm, clear coaching while I was absolutely bricking it. Final airport: back to East Midlands. One visual waypoint, the Power Station. No drama, no mountains, no weather. I landed with a slight bounce but in relative safety. Then Duncan said: “Where were my hands during that landing?” I had no idea — my eyes had been fixed on the instruments and the runway ahead. “One hand was behind my head, the other resting by the throttle. You just landed entirely on your own.” That sums Duncan up perfectly. He trusts your ability, knows exactly when to raise the stakes, and his skill in quickly reading a pupil’s strengths and weaknesses is where he truly stands out. Thank you, Duncan — you knocked this one clean out of the park. You exceeded every expectation and made me feel like a real pilot. Go see Duncan, fly with Ruth, and have a fabulous day — because my wife and I were buzzing for the rest of ours. We will be back.Posted on Google Danny GTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t thank Duncan enough for a thoroughly amazing afternoon of flying in his incredible simulator. He was so knowledgable and welcoming. At no point did he make us feel stupid and tutored us step by step always letting us take the lead in regards to where we wanted to fly to and land. We will definitely be returning.Posted on Google Derek TTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent session with Duncan. Very clear and informative instruction. Had a really great time, I'd never done anything like it before, but it was really accessible. Duncan was great as an instructor, clear but also easy going and funny. He was also very kind to my excitable 9 year old. Really enjoyed the experience.Posted on Google Nikki MTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic experience with Dunc for my boys this afternoon in the flight sim. He was very patient and made the experience fun including going upside down, flying under a bridge and a trip to Kenya! Fully recommended and we will definitely be back. Thank youPosted on Google John RTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a fantastic day out. I didn't think it would be so much fun. Incredible set up and so welcoming and fun. The only limit is your imagination. Research what you would really love to do and it can be set up. Fully recommendPosted on Google Alasdair WTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an absolutely amazing experience with Dunk. He went above and beyond to make my time in the simulator special. A perfect mix of a great technical (and realistic) flight training experience and an opportunity to take off, fly around and land in some of the worlds greatest cities. I would highly recommend for any aviation enthusiast. Extra marks for letting my wife and 6.y.o Son sit in on, and be part of the experience.
